This is an action brought to test the validity of certain claims made by the defendant, the registrar of deeds in the county of Middlesex, on behalf of himself and the Treasury, to fees amounting in all to 4s. 6d., for administering the oath and registering the memorial of a deed of 199 words in the registry of the said county. It was tried before the learned judge of the Clerkenwell county court, who, with the exception of a 6d. claimed, gave judgment in favour of the defendant, allowing the claim.
